O utlander PHEV

Designed and engineered to respond to the eco conscious society the new Outlander PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle) flaunts an incomparable power and refinement. It fully embodies the best qualities of a premium SUV. Thanks to the 2.0 Plug In Hybrid EV System with Twin Motor 4WD and Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC). The innovative Plug-in Hybrid EV system is remarkably eco efficient.

The OUTLANDER has 3 systems. Electric Driving, Hybrid Driving and Series Hybrid driving.

  1. Electric Driving: This is the Electric Power Only Mode: When the battery pcks are fully charged, the FRONT and REAR motors propels the vehicle. This basically has ZERO emissions, relying solely on electric power. The range can be long but limited, depending on the distance. load and ascent.
  1. Hybrid Driving: As the name suggests, this mode has two powerplants. the electric motor and a 2.0 liter gas engine. The electric motors are still the dominating apparatus, with the gas engine running the generator that will charge the batteries. This is ideal for long trips, especially without any charging stations in the vicinity.
  1. Parallel Hybrid mode: This system sees the two powerplants working in tandem. This is used when the vehicle has a heavy payload, with expected road ascents. Usually, weight is the biggest drain factor in electric charge, so engine support is needed to prolong the charge or complete the trip faster.

The outlander is one of the first EV that offers electric all wheel drive system. The technologically advanced motors are more torque but consume less energy. This made it possible to install two motors in one vehicle, as opposed to the older one motor EV. The battery packs are also drain slower and are actually environmentally safer. With the addition of the petrol engine, long trips are now very achievable.
