KiaPH shows new tech at the 6th Philippine International Motor Show

Kia is geared up for another round of the country’s premier motor show as the 6th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) this weekend, presented by Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) returns to the World Trade Center, Pasay.

The theme for this year’s PIMS is Steer the Future l CAMPI Driving Progress, Empowering Society. Columbian Autocar Corporation (CAC), the exclusive distributor of Kia vehicles in the Philippines is pulling out all the stops to showcase Kia’s diverse and modem line-up to automotive fans in Manila at the country’s most anticipated motor show.

CAC President Ginia R. Domingo gave a few reasons why Kia is sure to get people’s engines running at the eagerly awaited event. “PIMS only comes around every two years, which is why we always make sure to put our best foot forward for this event. It is always a treat for us to show Kia fans, both young and young-at-heart what are the latest developments that we are bringing to the table.” She adds, “For this PIMS we hope to give Kia fans a taste of some of the exciting developments that we have been working on and will hopefully be available to them in the near future. We will be showcasing innovative new technologies at the show and we are very proud to present the results of the hard work of the designers and engineers at Kia Motors. °

This time around, Kia fans will be able to experience Kia’s new autonomous driving Soul variant through a simulated 18-seat Virtual Reality theater. Equipped with Kia’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology, the autonomous driving Soul was introduced earlier this year at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kia has been testing this version of the Soul after being granted a permit by the state to test its autonomous driving technology on public roads.

Aside from the autonomous driving Soul, also on display will be Kia’s other popular models like the modem people mover, Grand Carnival, the colorful and compact Picanto, the fun, yet economical Rio and fourth qeneration Sportage compact SUV.

For those that like to take charge of their drive, the standard Kia Soul with 7-speed DCT (Dual-clutch Transmission) will also be present for guests to marvel at. The DCT Technology, the first of its kind for the brand, was developed from the ground up at Kia’s R & D Center in Namyang, Korea. The DCT allows drivers to smoothly shift from gear to gear, and allows one to switch from automatic to manual mode.

Other attractions will include a history booth featuring the unsung workhorse of the Kia range, the K2700 commercial truck. The booth will trace the venerable model’s history from its inception as the Kia Ceres to its present day iterations. Outside of the exhibition area, Kia K2700 trucks in different configurations will also be available for test drives.

Kids won’t miss out on the fun too, with awesome Enzy-themed games featuring entertaining activities for children of all ages to enjoy. Enzy the engine monster is one of the characters created by Kia to help build children’s fascination and familiarity with cars.

Come over to the World Trade Center on September 14-18 and experience how Kia’s world leading technologies and developments will Steer the Future with its Power to Surprise.
